Answer: I think at least FFr 5 1/2 4.80 francs (air mail) seems to ring a bell, but I wouldn't swear to it.Post card and letter are the same minimum price. Friends of ours usuallysend their cards in an envelope so they can send the photo and a longmessage for the price of postcard. Just on a whim, I typed http://www.laposte.fr and sure enough the website of the French post office appeared. A couple of clicks later theprice for 20 grams at the "Prioritaire" (Priority Mail) rate to NorthAmerica is 4.40 francs or 0.67 Euros. 40 g = 8.2 f, 60 g = 13 f, etc."Prioritaire" replaces Air Mail (and overseas First Class) and you'llfind very light "Prioritaire" envelopes in all the large Super /Hypermarches, and Monoprix, etc, stores, at a reasonable price. I alwayssend my postcards in such envelopes. I recommend using envelopes.The "Economique" rate is 8.8 francs for 100 grams, 15.5 f for 200 g,..., 46 f for a kilogram, etc, and probably takes a long, long time. Actually I recall that French Post has already issued stamps with eurovalues, even as you've to still pay it in Francs.
