I am a fifth grade teacher in California wanting to do a postcard exchange withother elementary teachers throughout the United States in order to study U.S.history and geography. Any experiences ? Thank for your reply

Answer: I organized a similar project. My project is based on a real puppy that wasadopted by postal workers in 1888. They named that mutt Owney. Owneystarted traveling with the mail and traveled all over the US. I bought astuffed dog and named it Owney. We mail Owney to a class in each state. AsOwney travels around the US each class sends postcards to the other statesso we can track his travels. An e-mail message also goes out and is postedon the web page.

I wish I could invite you to join my project, but Owney only has time forone classroom per state and I'm from California too. I have a participatingteacher from every state except Connecticut, Hawaii, and Wyoming. But thereare two other groups that formed to accommodate other teachers.
