Question: postcard format help needed please !!!being newish to this, can anyone advise me regarding the postcard entries.i have quite a few white index cards (postcard size) which i could use. Isit best to put the address to who it is going to on one side and my addressand answer to comp on the other - or should i print a little picture on oneside and then put both to and from addys with answer all on the other side? any advice appreciated.
Answer: well I hate to say it, but which ever way you do it, the post office willprobably manage to return a fair proportion of them to you instead of to thesender.best suggestion, whether you do option 1, or option 2, is to turn your postcard round 90 degrees then write your return address, in smaller print thanthe main address.I do a lot of p/c comps and I have found that when I use the free post cardsfrom cinemas, and such like, I print the senders address big and bold (wellas big and as bold as you can when you write the speed I do !!) then turnthe card so that the senders address comes down towards me then write myaddress, so that my postcode (being teh bottom line), is near to the centreline, rather than the far outside edge of postcard. This seems to have hadthe best results for me (in the way of not being returned to me, I mean). Also, Plain Paper, means exacty that, plain paper name and address usuallyhas to be written, ie, not labels, and in an envlope. Wouldn't evenrecommend lined paper.Hope this is of some help. About 4 years ago I used to enter a comps with plain white postcards, andwould write on them *normally* and I got a few wins. I never had a postcardreturned to meNow, I use the free postcards you get from cinemas etc (actually my sistergets them from school for me and I have about 200 now) - anyway, I write theentry address clearly in the address field, then turn the postcard by 90šand write my address details much smaller, and not in the standard format, but in one or two lines - that I am aware of I have only won one p/c comp(since I started doing them earlier this year), and I have never had a p/creturned to me.
